Merit-Based Scholarships

Xavier University School of Medicine realizes that there is more to a student than academics alone. This led us to create new scholarship programs that recognize accomplishments outside of the classroom.

Chancellor’s Scholarships

We are always looking for ways to reward our students. Each semester, the top one or two students will be recognized for outstanding academic performance. In addition, we will look at their overall participation in school activities such as the SGA (Student Government Association), Academic Enhancement Program, FMIG (Family Medicine Interest Group), and community service. These deserving students will receive $1,000 off of their next semester’s tuition.

Clinical Science Scholarship

The United States Medical Licensure Examination (USMLE) is a mandatory test that allows you to practice medicine in the United States. It assesses a doctor’s ability to apply important medical knowledge while maintaining safe and effective patient care. We understand the importance of the USMLE Step 1 exam, and wish to reward those who excel at this critical step in their medical careers.

Students are eligible for an ongoing scholarship based on their first attempt of the USMLE Step 1. This scholarship will be applied to each required clinical science semester. Each clinical semester runs for 12 weeks. To receive the scholarship, the student must meet one of the following criteria:

USMLE Step 1 Score                                                 Scholarship Amount

        215-229                                                $500.00 per 12 weeks of rotations

        230-244                                                $600.00 per 12 weeks of rotations

          245+                                                    $750.00 per 12 weeks of rotations
