President Bhooplapur has worked in the insurance industry for over 25 years and is Founder & CEO of Vision Financial Services, New York. He has been awarded many industry awards and entered into “Hall of Fame” of insurance for his outstanding commitment & service to the industry. Ravi is a board member of numerous charities, hospitals and businesses. He is the founder of the “Gift of Life, India” and has been instrumental in saving over 1500 children’s lives to date by providing heart surgery to children under the age of 15.

Ravi has worked with many hospitals and physicians nationwide (through his work with “Gift of Life, India”). He became the President of Xavier University School of Medicine, Aruba almost 8 years ago. He is a very active member of Rotary International and was installed as District Governor of Rotary International July 2, 2009. The Rotary Foundation has awarded Mr. Bhooplapur:

  • Rotary Foundation’s highest award “Service above Self” for Ravi’s commitment to humanitarian work worldwide

He is a Hall of Fame Member at the Rotary Foundation and his portrait was installed at world headquarters in Evanston, Chicago in 2005. Biography

Dr. Arun Kumar Dubey is a Physician, Clinical Pharmacologist and an administrator by training. After completing M.B.B.S. degree from Guwahati Medical College in India, Dr. Dubey completed three years Residency in Clinical Pharmacology from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). For the past 15 years, he has been involved in teaching Clinical Pharmacology to medical students in India and abroad. Dr. Dubey has also been involved in key administrative roles at different levels in Medical schools for the past 10 years. Dr. Dubey joined Xavier University School of Medicine, Aruba in August 2008 and went on to become Dean of Student Affairs and then Dean of Basic Sciences in 2010.

Dr. Dubey’s principal role is providing leadership in all aspects of Medical Education in Basic Sciences at XUSOM, Aruba. Dr. Dubey takes keen interest in recent developments and challenges in Medical Education and has been instrumental in taking the leadership to implement an integrated Organ System Based Curriculum at XUSOM, Aruba. His main area of research includes different aspects of Medical education and “Ginkgo biloba”. He has published more than 60 research articles in indexed journals.

Biography

Dr. Herz was recently promoted to Associate Provost at Xavier University School of Medicine. Prior to that, he served as the Dean of Clinical Science at XUSOM.

Dr. Herz is the past chairman and Program Director of Surgery for over 20 years at Montefiore New Rochelle Medical Center (formerly Sound Shore Medical Center of Westchester). Additionally, he was a Professor of Clinical Surgery and Associate Dean at New York Medical College. He was also a Professor of Surgery and Director of Medical Education at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada. Dr. Herz is the former Governor of the American College of Surgeons, as well as the first Clinical Dean at UMHS in St. Kitts. He is a founding member and President of the CIMG P.C. (a 144-physician multi-specialty group practice) in Brooklyn, New York. His primary areas of interest in clinical practice and research include Trauma / Critical Care and Surgical Infections. He has been interested in both graduate and post-graduate medical education for his entire career. This includes being an editor and author of multiple articles and books. In addition, Dr. Herz has taught and lectured in various countries including the United Kingdom, Mexico, France, and South America.

Biography

Dr. Cheryl Carrao graduated from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) and completed her family medicine residency at Long Beach Medical Center (LBMC), where she served as chief resident. After graduation, Dr. Carrao became Medical Director for Gateway Family Physicians in Port Chester, N.Y., before joining the Westchester Medical Group in White Plains, N.Y. She served as the school physician for the Port Chester Public School District, the Rye Presbyterian Nursery School and the Rye Art Center Day Camp. After leaving Westchester, Dr. Carrao joined a private practice in Manhattan, serving patients in Tribeca. In 2008, Dr. Carrao returned to Long Beach Medical Center as the Associate Director of the medical center and became the Director of Medical Education, Director of the Traditional Rotating Internship, Chief Academic Officer and Chief of the Division of Family Medicine. In these capacities, Dr. Carrao both chaired and was an active member of several hospital committees. She also served on the board of directors of NYITCOM and its Education Committee. After the closure of LBMC and its training programs, Dr. Carrao joined the Family Medicine faculty at South Nassau as Director of the Traditional Rotating Internship.  Dr Carrao will soon be assuming the role of Osteopathic Director of Medical Education and Director of the Osteopathic Family Medicine residency at SNCH. Dr. Carrao was nominated for the prestigious Mentor of the Year in the American Osteopathic Association. She is currently an Assistant Clinical Professor at NYITCOM, LECOM, and Xavier University School of Medicine where she currently serves as the Chairman of Family Medicine.

Biography

Dr. Richard Pomerantz is currently Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Saint Agnes Hospital, in Baltimore, Maryland. After graduating from the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, he completed his Internal Medical residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and his fellowships in clinical cardiology and interventional cardiology at the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston. Prior to his appointment to the Chairman’s position at St. Agnes, he spent 20 years as a practicing interventional cardiologist, Professor of Medicine, Chief of Clinical Cardiology and Director of the Cardiology Fellowship training program at the University of Rochester Medical Center/Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester New York.  Dr. Pomerantz has been a recognized leader in state and national medical organizations, serving as President of the New York State Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, Upstate New York Governor of the ACC, and President of the New York Cardiological Society. He has also served on the Board of Governors Steering Committee and the Fellowship Training Program Committee of the American College of Cardiology. Since coming to St. Agnes, Dr. Pomerantz maintains a clinical practice in cardiology but has also focused heavily on physician recruitment and the expansion of clinical services, the department of medicine and cardiology quality assurance and patient safety programs, as well as further developing and expanding the medical residency and medical student educational programs.

Chairman Casey is formerly President of the Rotary Club of New York and Managing Director of Operations of Trinity Church on Wall Street, New York. Currently, he is President of his own consulting firm which primarily specializes in serving the not-for-profit sector and is deeply committed to public service.

Often a leader and speaker on corporate culture, motivation and self empowerment, he is an associate of the World Speakers Association.

Mr. Casey has received numerous awards including the NYC Apple Polisher Award, the Who’s/Who in the East and multiple Paul Harris Fellowships as well as the La Clave Award from the government of Spain.

Biography

Dr. Bhat received his M.B.B.S. and M.D. degrees from University of Mysore in India. He completed a Residency in Internal Medicine at Government Wenlock Hospital, Mangalore, India, Kasturba Medical College Hospital, Manipal, India and Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn, USA. He completed his fellowship training in nephrology at New York University Medical Center. He was awarded a post-doctoral research fellowship for two years by New York State Kidney Disease Institute to continue research at New York University Medical Center. Dr. Bhat is a diplomate of American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of internal Medicine in Nephrology. He has earned numerous honors and awards most notably, the Government of India’s Ministry of Health Merit Scholarship.

Dr. Bhat has been affiliated with most major medical and educational institutions in New York area for over three decades. He has been intimately involved with post graduate medical education and has served on the panels of several residency and fellowship training programs in New York City area. His past faculty appointments included New York University School of Medicine and State University of New Health Sciences Center in Stonybrook, New York and Albert Einstein School of Medicine of Yeshiva University. He has held various administrative and leadership positions in various hospitals in New York including interim Chairman of Medicine and Medical Director at North Shore University Hospital at Forest Hills, New York. He has an avid interest in research and has published numerous research papers in the fields of kidney diseases. He is considered an expert on health care economics in general and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) program in particular and has been sought after speaker on this issue nationwide.

Dr. Bhat is co-founder of Atlantic Dialysis Management Services, a New York based dialysis chain providing high quality dialysis services to patients with ESRD. He is currently serving as director on Kidney Care Council, a Washington D.C. based industry group working with the government to improve quality of care for patients on dialysis. Dr. Bhat was appointed as Chancellor of Xavier University School of Medicine in Oranjestad, Aruba in 2008. He is also a trustee of the Xavier University Foundation in Aruba.

In recognition of his long and dedicated service to the people of New York State, Governor David Paterson appointed him to prestigious New York State Public Health Council in 2010. His appointment was confirmed by the State Senate and he served on the Establishment Committee and Health Personnel Committee of the Public Health Council. He was re-appointed by Governor Paterson to the newly formed New York State Public Health and Health Planning Council. He served as the Chairman of the Health Personnel Committee of Public Health and Health Planning Council from 2012- 2015.

Biography

His Excellency Dr. Amin Mahmoud, the former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Jordan, and former Minister of Culture, has been named to the Board of Trustees of Xavier University School of Medicine, Aruba. He has three times served as a member of the cabinet of Ministers of Jordan and twice been appointed Senator. Previously he served on the XXIV senate council and most recently he was appointed to the XXVI senate council of Jordan by Royal Decree on March 3, 2015.

He earned his Master’s degree in Modern History and International Relations at Georgetown University as a Fulbright Scholar. In 1972, he was conferred his doctorate in Modern History, after which he returned home to the University of Jordan as a teacher of history and political science. In 1984 in conjunction with Yarmouk University, he established the landmark Center for Hebrew Studies which focused on Isreali affairs. In 1986, he was awarded a professorship at the University of Kuwait in History and Political Science. He is also credited with the establishment of the Jordan University for Women. Throughout his career he has served as the president of four universities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

As Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, he championed and advanced international relations through educational projects and discussions with countries such as Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Turkey, China, Armenia and Saudi Arabia. He staunchly advocates international study opportunities in medicine for Jordanian students.

Dr. Prahalad is a graduate of St. John’s Medical College, one of India’s premier medical institutions located in Bangalore. Dr. Prahalad is licensed to practice in the State of Pennsylvania and is the Vice Chairman of the Department of Anesthesia and a Cardiac Anesthesiologist at the Community Medical Center Healthcare System. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology, American Board of Echo-Cardiography and the American Board of Pain Medicine.

Mr. Croes, currently residing in Aruba, is a trained barrister in Intellectual Property Rights and Constitutional, Public and Administrative Rights. He currently functions as the Director of the Aruba Development Bank. Mr. Croes has served in the Aruban Parliament, wherein he drafted and revised laws and legal rules in the judicial and financial fields. He served as Technology Counselor with regards to judicial and financial aspects of foreign relations and was instrumental in the technical support of upgrading/automation Intellectual Property Rights in Netherlands Antilles. His expertise extends into re-organization where he spearheaded the genesis of the Office of Foreign Affairs and the Department of Human Resources on the Island of Aruba. He successfully drafted, planned and budgeted both of the newly developed branches of government. He has also served as Commissioner in numerous Aruban Government agencies including Public Health; Judiciary Affairs and Treasury & Education.

Mr. Croes has served as Past District Governor of the Lions Club and was knighted and proclaimed an Officer in the Order of Nassau, for distinguishing merits to the benefit of mankind, by her Royal Majesty Queen Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands on April 20th, 1994.

Dr. Nwasokwa graduated from Yale University with a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry in 1974. He continued on to John Hopkins University School of Medicine to obtain both his M.D. and Ph.D. in 1979. Dr. Nwasokwa completed both his residency in internal medicine and fellowship in cardiology at Emory University School of Medicine Hospital in 1985. He has worked and managed his own practice as an invasive cardiologist. Dr. Nwasokwa has a number of scientific publications and contributions to the field of medical research.

Dr. Kota is a trained Surgeon who received his M.B.B.S. from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India.  Dr. Kota’s past experience as a General and Laparoscopic surgeon includes working at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital, John T. Mather Memorial Hospital, St. Charles Hospital, St. Catherine Hospital of Siena, and Caremax Surgical P.C.  Dr. Kota is currently the Chairman and Executive Director at Premier Surgical PLLC.

Dr. Ravindra’s Kota devotes his time to helping those of need by providing surgical treatment for kids with congenital heart diseases through the “Gift of Life” program.  Dr. Kota has also been recognized for his medical research and presentations including, “An Audit of Surgery for Seventy One Primary Parotid Tumors” (Dec, 1991).

Dr. Kota received his MBA from Adelphi University.

Dr. Shallah received his M.D. from the State University of New York, Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. With a background and early career in emergency medical services, Dr. Shallash chose to focus on emergency medicine, having completed his Residency at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. He has held many respected and influential positions throughout the New York Area, including the Chairman of Emergency Medicine for St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in Brooklyn and Queens, and Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in Patchogue, NY. Most recently, Dr. Shallash has worked within the Northwell Health – North Shore-LIJ Health system and was the Medical Director of LIJ Valley Stream Hospital.

His passion for emergency medical services and the field of emergency medicine continues in his free time as well, having served as an EMS On-Line Medical Control Physician for almost 20 years. Additionally, he has authored numerous articles in several medical journals and is associated with the American College of Emergency Physicians and the Regional Emergency Medical Advisory Committee of New York City. He has continued to help the medical community by being a part of the Alumni Association for Downstate Medical Center.

Dr. Naik received an M.B.B.S. from Karnataka Medical College in Hubli, India in 1968. He did his post-graduate rotating internship at Karnataka Medical College Hospital and an Internship in Medicine at Edgewater Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Naik’s academic appointments include experience as a Lecturer in Human Anatomy at JJM Medical College, an appointment as an Associate of Medicine at Mount Sinai, Assistant Professor in Medicine at New York Medical College and a current appointment as Clinical Associate Professor in Medicine at New York Medical College.

Dr. Naik’s distinguished work at New York Metropolitan area hospitals began in 1975, when he was appointed as Associate Cardiologist in the Beth Israel Hospital Cardiology Department. Subsequently, he was selected as an Attending in Cardiology and served as the Director of the Cardiac Care Unit and as the Supervisor of the Cardiac Laboratory at the Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital. He currently serves as an Associate Attending in Medicine Cardiology at Lawrence Hospital, an Associate Attending in Medicine and Cardiology at Westchester County Medical Center, an Associate Attending in Cardiology at Mount Vernon Hospital and as an Assistant Attending in Medicine and Cardiology at Hackensack University Medical Center. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Cardiovascular Disease. Dr. Naik holds licensure in New York, California and New Jersey.

Dr. Naik is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology. From 2000-2001, Dr. Naik served as President of the prestigious American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI). Additionally from 2004-2006, Dr. Naik served as the President of the American Association of Cardiologists of Indian Origin (AACIO). M.D., F.A.C.C., F.C.C.P. M.D., F.A.C.C., F.C.C.P.

Richard J. Derman, M.D., MPH, FACOG, was appointed Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Christiana Care in May 2008. He also serves as Director, Center for Women’s and Children’s Health Research and Professor, Obstetrics and Gynecology, at Thomas Jefferson University.

Dr. Derman served in a number of senior leadership roles during his career. Before completing his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cornell University, The New York Lying-In Hospital, and his MPH degree from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Derman served as a Peace Corps Physician in India and a Medical Director of the Peace Corps in Washington, D.C. Upon completion of his residency, he was Medical Director and CEO of a federally funded agency dedicated to maternal-child health. He remained on the faculty at Cornell until 1994, when he accepted a professorship and became Director of Women’s Health at the University of Illinois School of Medicine, where he also served as an Adjunct Professor at the University’s School of Public Health. Dr. Derman has served as Medical Director and/or PI of the Center of Excellence in Women’s Health both at University of Illinois and University of Missouri, Kansas City and at Christiana Care.

Dr. Derman has held the positions of Associate Dean for Clinical Research, Interim Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Women’s Health, Schutte Chair in Women’s Health and Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Kansas City.

Dr. Derman is a Principal Investigator of the Global Research Network for Women’s and Children’s Health, funded by the National Institutes of Health and is involved in research funded by the World Health Organization and the Gates Foundation. He has published more than 70 articles in indexed peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Malieckal is a graduate from JN Medical College at Karnatak University, Belguam. He completed his Nephrology fellowship at Brooklyn Cumberland Medical Center.
